Called to Frankfurt: Why River Church Frankfurt Was Planted in This City
For River Church Frankfurt, the city is not a backdrop. Frankfurt is the mission field the church believes God called it to serve.
A church planted with a city in view
River Church Frankfurt was planted in 2022 by Pastors Nick and Janina Bowlin. The church describes its identity in three connected ways: a local church, a revival hub and a missions hub.
That language begins with the local church. River’s first responsibility is not an abstract national platform but people in Frankfurt: families, young adults, children, internationals, Germans and anyone looking for a place to follow Jesus.
Frankfurt is the mission field
River’s public vision says, “Frankfurt is our mission field.” That conviction shapes weekly services, evangelism, discipleship, children’s ministry, youth ministry and Bible School.
The city’s international character also gives the church a natural connection to people from many nations without removing the responsibility to reach German-speaking residents.
Local roots with a wider vision
River also speaks about Germany and the nations, but that wider vision is meant to grow from a healthy local church. The pattern is simple: reach people here, build them in the Word and the Holy Spirit, and send them into purpose.
