SERMON NOTES

Walking Worthy of Your Calling
Introduction
* Ephesians 4:1–3 –

“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

* Eternity is not just where we end up, but how we live now in light of it.

* Our calling is eternal, and we must walk in a way that matches its weight.

I. The Eternal Nature of Our Calling
* 2 Timothy 1:9 –

“Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

* God’s calling was set before time began. Your destiny is not an accident.

* Romans 8:30 –

“Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

* Walking worthy means aligning our daily lives with God’s eternal plan.

II. The Standard of Worthy Walking
* Worthy = axios (Greek) = to balance the scales, to measure up to the weight.

* Colossians 1:10 –

“That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

* Standards of a worthy walk:

1. Holiness – 1 Peter 1:15–16 –

“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’”

2. Faithfulness – Matthew 25:21 –

“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’”

3. Love – John 13:35 –

“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

III. The Attitude of Worthy Walking
* Ephesians 4:2–3 –

“With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

* Philippians 2:3–5 –

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”

* Eternity is marked by humility. Our walk today must reflect the same.

IV. The Endurance of Worthy Walking
* Hebrews 12:1–2 –

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

* Galatians 6:9 –

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

* 2 Timothy 4:7–8 –

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

* Walking worthy means enduring faithfully to the end.

V. The Reward of Worthy Walking
* Revelation 3:4–5 –

“You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

* Philippians 3:14 –

“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

* Eternal rewards include:

* Fellowship with Christ

* Crowns of reward

* Ruling and reigning with Him
