SERMON NOTES

GOD'S WORD AS OUR FINAL AUTHORITY
Foundation Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) – All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God"

* The Bible is not just another book—it is God-breathed.

* Every word originates from God’s divine wisdom, carrying His authority and truth.

* The Word is alive and not subject to human error or cultural shifts.

"Profitable for doctrine"

* Doctrine means teaching or instruction—God’s Word gives us the foundation for what we believe.

* Without biblical doctrine, faith becomes unstable and easily deceived.

* Jesus Himself said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

"For reproof" ( exposes wrong)

* The Word corrects us when we are in error.

* It exposes lies, false beliefs, and deception.

* When we read the Bible, we are held accountable to God’s truth rather than personal opinions.

"For correction" ( Leads us on the right path after reproof)

* God’s Word not only shows us what is wrong but also shows us the right way.

* It leads us to repentance and transformation.

* Psalm 119:9 says, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word."

"For instruction in righteousness"

* The Bible is the training manual for holy living.

* It teaches us how to walk in faith, love, obedience, and integrity.

* When we obey, we become more like Jesus—our ultimate example of righteousness.

"That the man of God may be complete"

* The Word of God matures and completes us in every way.

* Without it, we lack the full development needed to walk in spiritual authority and wisdom.

"Thoroughly equipped for every good work"

* God does not just save us—He equips us for our calling.

* The Bible prepares us for ministry, leadership, and victorious living.

* It is the power source behind every true work of God in our lives.

You will never walk in the fullness of God's plan without following His Word.

I. THE BIBLE: OUR DIVINE BLUEPRINT/ OR HANDBOOk
* Every masterpiece has a blueprint; every invention has a manual.
* God, the Master Creator, has given us His manual—the Word.
* A house without a blueprint collapses. A life without God’s Word leads to confusion.
* Every valuable item comes with a handbook, and most times a warranty

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”

* Numbers 23:19 (NKJV) – God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.”

6. Truth Separates Believers from the World – Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

7. Truth Brings Stability – Isaiah 33:6 (NKJV)
“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure.”

8. Truth Directs Our Decisions – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

9. Truth Cannot Be Compromised – Galatians 1:8-9 (NKJV)
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”

10. Truth is Jesus Christ – John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

III. THE CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORING GOD’S WORD

* Hosea 4:6 (NKJV) – My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
* Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

“Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

2. Lack of Direction – Proverbs 29:18 (NKJV)
“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law.”

3. Deception and False Teaching – 2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NKJV)
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

9. A Life of Chaos and Confusion – James 1:22-25 (NKJV)
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

10. Eternal Separation from God – 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 (NKJV)
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.”

Ignoring God's Word leads to deception, defeat, and destruction.
