SERMON NOTES

Galatians 5:6 – “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”
* Faith doesn’t work in a vacuum. It doesn’t operate by willpower or formulas.

* The fuel of faith is love.

* If faith seems dry, weak, or blocked, check the love walk.

“Faith is the engine, but love is the fuel that makes it run.”

2. Faith Without Love is Empty
1 Corinthians 13:2 – “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
* You can have mountain-moving faith, but if it’s not rooted in love, it is worthless in God’s eyes.

* Faith without love becomes self-serving, cold, and empty.

* Love gives faith its motive and its meaning.

3. Love Fuels Bold Faith
Romans 5:5 – “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
* When you know you’re loved, you approach God with bold faith, not fear.

* Condemnation kills confidence. Love builds confidence.

* Love removes the “What if God won’t?” voice and replaces it with “I know He will.”

Illustration: A child runs boldly to their father — not because of their performance, but because of relationship.

4. Love Removes Hindrances to Faith
1 John 4:18 – “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.”
Mark 11:25 – “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
James 3:16 – “For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”
* Fear hinders faith. Love drives out fear.

* Unforgiveness blocks faith. Love forgives and clears the channel.

* Strife and bitterness create an atmosphere where the enemy works.

* Love is the guardrail that keeps faith free to flow.

Parable: Matthew 18:21–35 – The Unforgiving Servant
* Forgiven of much, refused to forgive little → delivered to tormentors.

* Matthew 18:33 – “Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?”

“Faith can’t work in a heart that’s locked in bitterness. Forgive, release, and let love open the pipeline.”

5. Love Empowers Works, Not to Earn but to Reciprocate
2 Corinthians 5:14–15 – “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
1 John 5:3 – “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”
John 14:15 – “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
* Once you receive God’s love, you don’t perform to earn it — you act because of it.

* Love doesn’t make obedience heavy; it makes it joyful.

* Real faith shows up in real works — but works that flow out of love.

Illustration: A husband who knows he is loved doesn’t serve grudgingly — he delights to reciprocate.
“We don’t work for love, we work from love.”

6. Avoid the Two Ditches
* Ditch #1 – Legalistic Fear: “If I slip for a second, I’ve lost God’s love and opened the door to the devil.”

* Ditch #2 – Hyper-Grace Carelessness: “It doesn’t matter how I live, God loves me anyway.”

Titus 2:11–12 – “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age.”
The middle road: Love fuels holy living, not fear. Love empowers faith, not laziness.
* Fear = tightrope.

* Hyper-grace = ditch.

* Love = steady road with God’s hand holding you.

7. Faith That Flows Outward Through Love
Galatians 5:13 – “For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Matthew 14:14 – “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”
* True faith in God always produces love for people.

* Love is not sentimental; it’s sacrificial.

* Miracles, healings, breakthroughs — they flow best when compassion moves you.

Illustration: Corrie Ten Boom forgiving the Nazi guard — love released power greater than hate, and faith was validated.
“When compassion moves you, faith will back you.”

8. The Reward of Faith Working by Love
1 John 3:22 – “And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.”
1 Corinthians 13:8 – “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”
1 John 4:17 – “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.”
* Love gives confidence in judgment, stability in trials, and answers in prayer.
