Love and Unity: The Cure for Division and Death

1. The Pattern of Division in the Beginning
Genesis 3:8–9 – “And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where are you?’”
* Sin divided man from God — shame replaced fellowship.

* Division always begins vertically (between man and God) and then spreads horizontally (between people).

Genesis 3:12 – “Then the man said, ‘The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.’”
* Love turned to blame. Unity turned to accusation.

* Division spread from the marriage covenant into the family line.

Genesis 4:8 – “Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.”
* Sin unchecked produced envy, strife, and death.

* The first murder was born out of division between brothers.

👉 “From hiding, to blaming, to murdering — sin always divides, and division always produces death.”

2. Strife is the Breeding Ground of Evil
James 3:14–16 – “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”
* Strife opens the door to confusion and every evil work.

* You cannot walk in love and strife at the same time. One is of God, the other is of the devil.

* Strife is Satan’s foothold — once allowed in, it multiplies destruction.

👉 “Strife is the devil’s welcome mat; love is God’s dwelling place.”

3. Don’t Give the Devil an Open Door
Ephesians 4:26–27 – “Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”
* Anger becomes dangerous when it lingers — when you go to bed with it, it becomes an open door.

* Division, offense, and bitterness are spiritual doorways for the enemy to subtract and destroy.

* Forgiveness shuts the door. Love locks it.

👉 “Unresolved anger is like leaving your front door wide open for the thief.”

4. The Devil Subtracts and Divides, But Love Adds and Multiplies
John 10:10 – “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
* The devil subtracts joy, peace, relationships, health, and blessing.

* The devil divides marriages, churches, and friendships.

* But love adds hope, multiplies strength, and restores unity.

1 Peter 4:8 – “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins.”
👉 “Love doesn’t subtract or divide — it covers, adds, multiplies, and restores.”

5. Love and Unity Release God’s Blessing
Psalm 133:1–3 – “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing—life forevermore.”
* Unity brings the anointing and commands God’s blessing.

* Division drives out the Spirit’s flow; unity draws it in.

* When the church, family, or marriage is united in love, heaven responds with blessing and life.

👉 “The devil cannot curse a people God has commanded blessing on — and that blessing falls where love and unity are found.”

6. Love is Stronger Than Death and Division
1 Corinthians 13:8 – “Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”
* Prophecy, tongues, and knowledge all have an expiration date — but love is eternal.

* Division dies, but love lives.

* Death itself is swallowed up in victory because of love.

Romans 8:38–39 – “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
* Nothing can divide us from God’s love — and nothing should divide us from one another when that same love is at work in us.

👉 “Division brings death, but love brings life — and life forevermore.”
